What it is

A hearing loop sends the sound from our mixer straight into hearing aids and cochlear implants that have a telecoil (T) setting. Members hear the pastor clearly from their own pew, with nothing to borrow.

Auracast™ broadcast audio does the same for compatible phones, earbuds and newer hearing aids, and can replace an old FM system. Most churches do both, from one sound feed.

What it costs (as of October 2026)

  • Loop, sanctuary up to about 300 seats: $3,500–6,000
  • Loop plus Auracast: from $6,000
  • Balcony, choir or fellowship hall: from $2,000 each
  • Loan receivers, if wanted: about $160–310 each (loop) or $335–377 (Auracast)

Includes design, installation, a measured commissioning report, signs and training. Memorial gifts and Lions or Sertoma clubs often help pay.

How disruptive is it?

One to two days on site for most sanctuaries, three or four for saw-cut floors, balconies or phased arrays, scheduled between services. The pews stay put. If your carpet is staying, we lift and relay a narrow strip along the wire path, or route along the pews or on the ceiling below.

Do we have to?

Usually not: churches are exempt from the ADA’s public-accommodation rules, though building codes can apply when we renovate. We do it because members are missing the sermon. General information, not legal advice.

Five questions to ask every bidder

  1. Will you measure the finished system against IEC 60118-4 and give us the readings in writing?
  2. How will you handle the balcony, the choir and any metal in the floor?
  3. Will anyone see the wire?
  4. Does the price include Auracast, loan receivers, signs and training?
  5. If you’re not around in ten years, can someone else service it?
